New EPD for warm edge spacers SP14/SP18 from Technoform: Verified data for more sustainable construction
Reliable environmental data enables you to assess the carbon footprint of buildings more accurately and make informed decisions. That is why Technoform remains committed to environmental transparency.
We are pleased to announce the publication of our new Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) for our warm edge spacers SP14 and SP18. Available in widths from 10 to 20 mm, they are manufactured at our plants in Italy, Germany, and Poland. Independently verified, the declaration is now available in the INIES database and remains valid until 2031.
What is an EPD and why does it matter?
An EPD provides standardized, independently verified environmental data across a product’s life cycle. It is an essential tool for construction professionals conducting life cycle assessments (LCAs), meeting regulatory requirements, or contributing to green building certifications.
This transparent, verified data enables insulating glass manufacturers, specifiers, facade consultants, and engineering firms to integrate environmental performance more easily into design and material selection decisions.
A Particularly Low Carbon Footprint
The new EPD confirms a carbon footprint of just 0.118 kg CO₂e per linear meter for our reference products, the SP14 and SP18 spacers (A1-A3).
This low footprint can help reduce the embodied carbon of insulating glass units. Verified data shows that Technoform SP14/SP18 spacers have an embodied carbon footprint up to five times lower than standard aluminum spacers and TPS solutions.
Reliable Data to Support Low-Carbon Building Projects
As sustainability requirements across the construction industry continue to increase, access to reliable environmental data is becoming essential. This new EPD gives building professionals a solid basis for assessing and reducing the environmental impact of their projects while benefiting from the proven thermal performance of Technoform warm edge spacers.
