Sustainability Award for spacers made with recycled material

Spacers made with 35%, 75%, or more recycled material?

Yes - it’s possible! And we’ve even won an award for doing just that.

Technoform has won the Sustainability Award from the Bundesverband Flachglas, the German Flat Glass Association. The focus is on the idea of manufacturing our warm edge spacers in insulating glass using up to 100 % recycled polypropylene.

Our initial trials with pilot customers in Germany and other European countries show: 
Using 35 %, 75 %, and more recycled PP is possible - without compromising on quality or appearance. To achieve this, we collect spacer offcuts from our customers, sort them by type, and feed them back into our material cycle. 
For us, this is an important step toward a more circular economy in the window and facade industry: less waste, fewer primary raw materials, and lower CO₂ emissions.
